Lesser Antilles, Virgin Islands - Tropical storm PHILIPPE (ECHO 04 Oct 2023)

Tropical storm PHILIPPE passed close to the coast of Anguilla and the Virgin Islands on 3 October and is moving northward over the Atlantic Ocean. On 4 October at 3.00 UTC, its centre was located over the Ocean approximately 190 km north of the north-eastern coast of Puerto Rico Island, with maximum sustained winds of 74 km/h.
According to media reports, the islands of Guadalupe, Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica have been affected by floods, and schools have been closed on 3 October following the influence of PHILIPPE.
PHILIPPE is forecast to continue northward over the Ocean towards the western coast of Canada.
For the next 24 hours, heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are still forecast for the northern Islands of the Lesser Antilles, including most of the northern Leeward Islands and Virgin Islands.
