Bangladesh - Earthquake (ECHO 03 Mar 2026)

On?27?February at?07:52?UTC (13:52 local time), a?5.3?M earthquake at a depth of?36.9?km struck south-western Bangladesh. The epicentre was located about?10?km southwest of Assasuni Upazila in the Khulna Division, roughly?80?km east-southeast of Kolkata, India.
USGS PAGER estimates indicate that?106?000?people were exposed to very strong shaking and?1.09?million?people to strong shaking.
According to media reports, the event was felt over several areas of Bangladesh and in Kolkata and adjoining areas in West Bengal (India) but no casualties or significant damage to buildings have been recorded.
