Malaysia - Landslide (ECHO 20 Sep 2025)

On 15 September, heavy rain triggering flash floods and a landslide has affected Kota Kinabalu city, Sabah state, northern Borneo island, Malaysia, resulting in fatalities and people unaccounted for.
Media reports, as of 15 September that the landslide in Kampung Unggun Jaya, Sepanggar district of Kota Kinabalu has killed one person, while four people were rescued, and six people are still missing. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
Media further reports of 459 people that have been evacuated and stay in temporary shelters in Penampang, Tawau and Beaufort. Electricity and water cuts have also been reported.
Over the next 48 hours, additional rain with isolated heavy rain is expected for Sabah state.
