  • A new tropical cyclone named TAMMY formed over the Atlantic Ocean on 18 October and started moving north-west toward the Leeward Islands, the northern part of the Lesser Antilles, streghtening. On 20 October at 6.00 UTC, its centre was located over the Ocean approximately 420 km south-east of the Guadeloupe Island, with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h (tropical storm).
  • TAMMY is forecast to continue northwestward over the Ocean, strenghtening, and to pass very close to Guadeloupe and Antigua and Barbuda on 21 October in the afternoon and 22 October very early in the morning (UTC), with maximum sustained winds up to 130 km/h (Cat. 1 Hurricane).
  • Over the next 48 hours, heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are forecast over the Leeward Islands, the northern Windward Islands, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. NOAA has issued a hurricane watch over the northern Leeward Islands.
