  • A 5.8 M earthquake at a depth of 5 km occurred on 2 June at 21.31 UTC (on 3 June at 6.31 local time) in the Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa Prefecture, central-western Honshu Island in central Japan. The epicentre was located approximately 38 km northeast of Anamizu Town, Ishikawa Prefecture.
  • The USGS PAGER estimated that up to 19,000 people were exposed to very strong shaking and 20,000 to strong shaking.
  • According to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency (FDMA), two people have been injured - of whom one was severely injured in Ishikawa Prefecture and another slightly injured in Toyama Prefecture - and three buildings have been destroyed in Ishikawa Prefecture.
