Spain, Mid-September 2023Flash flooding occurred in various parts of Spain after storms brought heavy rain and hail from 14 September 2023. Lightning strikes and strong winds also caused damages. Flooding was reported in the regions of Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia, Andalusia, Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha. Firefighters carried out multiple rescues in areas of Madrid where motorists were trapped in vehicles. Flooding disrupted the public transport system in the city.
