  • Tropical cyclone FRANCINE formed over the south-western Gulf of Mexico, off the coast of eastern Mexico on the evening (UTC) of 8 September and started moving north toward southern Texas, USA, strenghtening. On 10 September at 6.00 UTC its centre was located over the Gulf, approximately 185 km south-east of the border area between north-eastern Mexico and south-western Texas, with maximum sustained winds of 100 km/h (tropical storm).
  • FRANCINE is forecast to continue northeastward over the Gulf on 10-11 September, further strenghtening. After that, it is expected to make landfall over the area of Lafayette city, southern Louisiana, USA on 12 September around 0.00 UTC, with maximum sustained winds up to 139 km/h (category 1 hurricane).
  • Over the next 72 hours, heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surges are forecast over north-eastern Mexico, the coastal Texas, most of Louisiana and the far southern Mississippi.   • Tropical cyclone FRANCINE continued moving northeastward over the Gulf of Mexico (well off the coast of southern Texas, USA) on 10 September, as a tropical storm. On 11 September at 6.00 UTC its centre was located over the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 385 km south-west of the the area of New Iberia city (just west of the greater New Orleans area, southern Louisiana, USA), with maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h (category 1 hurricane).
  • FRANCINE is expected to continue moving northeastward over the Gulf on 11 September, further strenghtening. After that, it is expected to make landfall over the area of New Iberia city on 12 September around 0.00 UTC, with maximum sustained winds up to 148 km/h (category 1 hurricane).
  • Over the next 48 hours, heavy rainfall and strong winds are forecast over most of Louisiana, most of Mississippi and the far southern Alabama. The hurricane warning over the coastal Louisiana issued by NOAA remains in effect.
