  • Tropical storm PAKHAR (named ROSAL in the Philippines) formed over the western Philippine Sea on 10 December close to Catanduanes island (eastern Philippines) and moved northeastward over the sea. On 12 December at 00.00 UTC, its centre was located over the sea approximately 800 km of east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon.
  • According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, as of 12 December, 165 people have been preventively evacuated across the regions of Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas.
  • PAKHAR is forecast to move east-northeastward on 12 December and, on 13-14 December, turn southward weakening.
  • For the next 24 hours, light rain is expected over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

  • Tropical depression PAKHAR (named "Rosal" in the Philippines) continued northeastward over the Philippine Sea on 12 December, well off the coast of central-northern Phillippines and further weakening. On 12 December at 20.00 UTC, its centre was located more than 1,000 km east of the far north of Luzon Island, as a low-pressure area.
  • PAKHAR brought heavy rainfall, strong wind and storm surge on northern Mindanao, Visayas and southern Luzon over 10-12 December.
  • The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reports more than 100 evacuated people (of which over 30 inside one evacuation centre) and some damaged houses across Western Visayas Region and Caraga region. In addition, media report, eight fatalities and one injured person across the Rizal province (just east of the Manila City area, southern Luzon) due to flash floods.
  • Over the next 24 hours, moderate rainfall is forecast over northern Mindanao, Visayas and eastern Luzon.
