  • BERYL is the earliest Cat. 4 hurricane on record, being the strongest formed during the month of June. On 1 July , its centre was located over the Ocean approximately 285 km south-east of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h (Cat. 3 hurricane).
  • BERYL is forecast to continue west, and to pass between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada on 1 July early the afternoon (UTC), with maximum sustained winds up to 213 km/h (Cat. 4 ). After that, it is expected moving toward Jamaica and the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico) on 3-5 July, weakening but remaining a hurricane.
  • Over the next 48 hours, very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are forecast over the Windward Islands. NOAA has issued a hurricane warning over St. Vincent and the Grenadine, Grenada, St. Lucia and Tobago. 
  • CDEMA is monitoring the situation and coordination meetings among Caribbean countries have been carried out. In some countries, emergency shelters have been set up. DG ECHO is in contact with ECHO partners and CDEMA.

  • On 1 July hurricane BERYL passed between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada with maximum sustained winds up to 222 km/h (Cat. 4 hurricane) and continued moving northwestward over the Caribbean Sea, strenghtening.
  • WHO PAHO and IFRC report 1,032 evacuated people (a number of these in 68 shelters) in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, 2,500 evacuated (40 shelters) in Grenada and 129 evacuated in Trinidad and Tobago.
  • The Copernicus Emergency Management Service () was activated in rapid mapping mode.
  • On 2 July at 6.00 UTC, its centre was located offshore approximately 1,170 km south-east of Jamaica and 710 km south-east of Dominican Republic, with maximum sustained winds of 270 km/h (Cat. 5 Hurricane).
  • BERYL is forecast to continue northwestward, weakening, and to pass just south of Jamaica on 3 July in the evening (UTC), as a Cat. 2-3 hurricane. After that, it is expected to make landfall over the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico on 5 July, as a Cat. 1 hurricane. NOAA has issued a hurricane warning over Jamaica.

  •  On 2 July hurricane BERYL continued northwestward over the Caribbean Sea, slightly weakening.
  • Media report, as of 3 July, six fatalities, of which three in Grenada, one in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and two across Venezuela. In addition, five missing people were reported in Venezuela. Needs assessments are ongoing across the affected countries.
  • The Copernicus Emergency Management Service () produced three maps so far, indicating very significant damage to buildings on the mapped islands.
  • BERYL is forecasted to pass very close to Jamaica on 3 July as a Cat. 3-4 hurricane and south of Cayman on 4 July as a Cat. 2. After that, it is forecasted to make landfall over the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico on 5 July, as a Cat. 2.
  • Over the next 24 hours, heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are forecasted over Jamaica, Cayman and southern Hispaniola. NOAA has issued a hurricane warning over Jamaica and Cayman.

  • On 4 July, Hurricane BERYL is forecasted to continue northwestward, further weakening, and passing south of Cayman as a Cat. 3. It is then forecasted to make landfall over Felipe Carrilo Puerto, Mexico, on 5 July, as a Cat. 2. Over the next 48 hours, very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are forecasted over Jamaica, Cayman, the Yucatan Peninsula and Belize. 
  • The media reports, as of 4 July, seven fatalities: three in Grenada, one in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and three across Venezuela (including five people still missing) and 500 evacuated people to shelters in Jamaica. 
  • On 1 July, the Copernicus Emergency Management Service () was activated and six maps have been produced.. 
  • On 3 July, the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) was activated to support UNEP/OCHA Joint Environment Unit with the deployment of environmental experts to Jamaica and Barbados, and to provide in-kind assistance to support Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, and Grenada.

  • On 5 July hurricane BERYL is forecasted to make landfall over the area of Tulum city, Mexico late in the morning (UTC), with maximum sustained winds of 176 km/h (Cat. 2).
  • DG ECHO reports, as of 4 July, ten fatalities: three in Grenada, three in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, three across Venezuela - where five people are still missing - and two in Jamaica. DG ECHO also reports 5,780 evacuated people across Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Jamaica.
  • The Copernicus Emergency Management Service () has so far produced ten maps.
  • The ERCC will deploy two EU experts in environmental damage assessments from Germany and Sweden as part of United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) teams to Jamaica and Barbados. France has made an offer of assistance under UCPM consisting of shelter and non-food items for Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
  • Over the next 48 hours, very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are forecasted over the Yucatan peninsula and the Gulf Coast. NOAA has issued a hurricane warning over these areas.
