  • Following the passage of tropical storm CHRIS over the state of Veracruz, eastern Mexico heavy rainfall, strong winds and consequent floods and landslides have caused widespread damage.
  • According to media, more than 1,500 houses have been damaged, most of them in Isla, where 765 homes were flooded due to the overflow of Chiltepec Creek and in Huiloapan, where the collapse of part of El Gentil Hill affected 600 houses. In addition, roads and highways have been closed due to landslides, particularly in the area of the municipalities of Misantla and Naolinco.
  • For the next 24 hours, moderate to locally heavy rainfall is forecasted across the affected state.
