5.2 quake rattles northwest China

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake has struck in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC). The quake, centered in Yecheng County, Kashgar, struck at a depth of 87 kilometers, CGTN reports. There were no immediate reports of any casualties or damage.

BEIJING - China on Tuesday expressed its deep concern and sympathy to quake-hit Iran and Iraq, saying it stood ready to offer assistance. A magnitude 7.3 earthquake jolted the Iran-Iraq border area Sunday, causing the deaths of at least 445 people while injuring more than 7,000.
