A new EC/ECHO daily map is now available
Southern China, April 2024Heavy rainfall from 18 April 2024 caused flooding in areas of Guangdong Province, China. Rescue workers were dispatched to various affected the cities including Zhaoqing, Shaoguan, Qingyuan and Jiangmen. As of 22 April, 53,741 people were evacuated in Guangdong. Power infrastructure was damaged leaving 1.16 million households without power in Guangdong Province. About 1,103 schools in Zhaoqing, Shaoguan and Qingyuan suspended classes. Authorities warned the situation could worsen due to the rise of rivers and tributaries in the Pearl, Xi and Bei river basins.
