Kerala, India, August 2019As forecast by IMD, heavy rain affected parts of Kerala from around 07 August, increasing river levels. Dam gates were opened in at least 12 locations as of 08 August. Over 20,000 people were evacuated. Cochin International airport was closed. Dozens of people died in massive landslides in Puthumala in Wayanad district and Nilambur in Malappuram district on 08 August.
