  • An earthquake of 6.9 M at a depth of 10 km occurred over the sea in central Philippines, on 30 September at  13.59 UTC (21.59 local time). The epicentre was approximately 10 km  east of Calape municipality, in the Province of Bohol, and 27 km west of the coast of Leyte island in the Central Visayas region. Several aftershocks with magnitudes between 5.2 M and 4.6 M were recorded in the area. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) initially issued a minor sea level disturbance for the coast of Leyte, Cebu, and Biliran (Eastern Visayas).
  • USGS PAGER estimates that up to 124,000 people were exposed to severe shaking, and 536,000 to very strong shaking.
  • According to media, as of 1 October, 69 fatalities and more than 150 injured people have been recorded mainly in Bogo city in the north of Cebu province. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that one road, five bridges, and two seaports have been affected in Central Visayas province, and power outages affected eight municipalities. In addition, at least 22 infrastructures have been damaged and classes have been suspended in 46 municipalities.
  • San Remigio and Tabuelan municipalities in Cebu province have declared a state of calamity.
  • National authorities are still conducting search and rescue operations.

  • The humanitarian impact of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck the Central Visayas region of the Philippines on 30 September at 13:59 UTC continues to escalate.
  • As reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on 2 October, the earthquake has caused at least 72 fatalities in Cebu province, with 294 individuals injured and 170,959 people affected overall. Among those impacted, approximately 20,000 have been displaced.
  • Infrastructure damage is extensive, including the destruction or damage of 597 homes, six bridges - with four bridges damaged and six entirely destroyed - and three blocked roads. Additionally, 85 cities or municipalities in the region have experienced power outages.
  • A state of calamity has been declared for 53 municipalities.

  • The 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Bogo City, in Cebu province, in the central  Philippines on 30 September at 13.59 UTC resulted in a large number of casualties and widespread damage.
  • The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reports that, as of 3 October, 68 fatalities, 559 injured people, 77,022 displaced individuals, and a total of 366,360 affected people were recorded across 14 cities or municipalities in Cebu province. Additionally, a total of 5,013 houses, at least 335 infrastructures, and 11 bridges have been damaged, with 89 cities or municipalities experiencing power outages. Classes have been suspended in 113 municipalities, and there are 53 municipalities under a state of calamity.
