  • An earthquake of 6.2 M at a depth of 10 km occurred in Papua New Guinea on 5 September at 1.03 UTC (11.03 local time). The epicentre was located 66 km north-northeast of Angoram town, in East Sepik Province, northern Papua New Guinea.
  • USGS PAGER estimated that up to 3,000 people were exposed to strong shaking and up to 119,000 people to moderate shaking.
  • According to media reports, as of 5 September, there are no immediate reports of any casualties or damage.
