  • A 5.5 M earthquake at a depth of 99 km occurred on 18 June at 2:22 UTC in Loreto department, the northernmost part of Peru. The epicentre was located approximately 20 km south-southwest of Puerto Madres village, in Andoas District in Loreto Department.
  • USGS PAGER estimates that 133,000 people were exposed to light shaking.
  • According to media reports, as of 17 June, some educational structures have been damaged and several landslides have been triggered by the earthquake affecting several parts of the Pan American Highway.
