  • An earthquake of 6.1 M (5.9 M as recorded by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency - AFAD) at a depth of 10 km occurred in north-western Turkey on 23 November at 1.08 UTC (4.08 local time). The epicentre of the earthquake was approximately 13 km west of Düzce City, and 8 km north-northwest of Gölyaka Town (both in Düzce Province).
  • AFAD reported, as of 23 November, a total of 72 injured people.
  • More than 100 aftershocks with a maximum magnitude of 4.3 M have been recorded in the area. USGS PAGER estimates that up to 41,000 people were exposed to severe shaking, up to 197,000 people were exposed to very strong shaking, and up to 118,000 people to strong shaking.
  • A total of 2,182 personnel and 424 vehicles from AFAD and related institutions have been deployed in the affected area.
  • For the next 24 hours, moderate rain is expected across the affected area.

  • After the 6.1M earthquake - 5.9M as recorded by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) - that occurred on 23 November at 1.08 UTC in Düzce Province (north-western Türkiye), the number of casualties increased.
  • According to the latest report by AFAD, as of 24 November, 93 people have been injured, of which 37 people in Düzce, 26 in Sakarya, 14 in Bolu, ten in Zonguldak, four in Bursa and two in Istanbul. AFAD and Turkish Red Crescent deployed blankets, tents, heaters, and food and non food items for the affected people.
  • Over the next 24 hours, moderate to lacally heavy rainfall is forecast over north-western Türkiye, including the area affected by the earthquake.
