  • An earthquake of 6.3 M (according to NOA Hellenic Seismic Network) at a depth of 10 km occurred in Thessaly Region on 3 March at 10.16 UTC (12.16 local time). The epicentre was located approximately 25 km north-west of Larissa City and 15 km south of Elassona Town.
  • Several aftershocks with magnitude up to 5.3 M have been recorded in the area. USGS PAGER estimates that up to 19,000 people were exposed to very strong shaking and 220,000 people to strong shaking.
  • Media report, six rescued people and at least 30 damaged/collapsed buildings, including a school and a church. Most of the damage has been reported in the village of Mesochori, 6 km west from the epicentre.
  • The Greek Civil Protection, regional Authorities and Armed Forces provided more than 280 tents, 10 generators, 2,000 blankets, 200 sleeping bags, 500 beds and other material for those affected.
