Bosnia and Croatia, Mid-December 2022Flash flooding, landslides and overflowing rivers after heavy rain caused damages in parts of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia from 10 December 2022. Bosnia-Herzegovina One person died in a landslide that buried part of a regional road near the city of Prijedor. Several other roads were blocked or flooded. A bridge was destroyed near the city of Gradiska. Several areas were cut off. Flooding was reported in Una-Sana Canton in particular around the city of Bihac. The city recorded 97 mm of rain in 24 hours (the monthly average is 125 mm). Local authorities said several buildings were flooded in the village of Orašac. The mayor of Sanski Most municipality declared a disaster after the Majdanuša river flooded the local communities of Zdena, Husimovci, Vrše, Donji Kamengrad, Hatiraj, Gornji Kamnegrad, Fajtovci and Novo Naselje and Stari Majdan. Roads were blocked in the area. Buildings were flooded in the Bosanska Krupa Municipality, including in Bosanska Otoka (6), Svetinja (2) and in the city of Bosanska Krupa (1). Firefighters carried out 20 interventions to pump flood water from buildings in the Municipality of Bosanski Petrovac. Flooding was also reported in the city of Cazin, and the municipalities of Bužim, Kljuc and Velika Kladuša with minor damages. Red Cross reported 500 people affected in total. Croatia Civil Protection reported flooding in Sisak-Moslavci County due to the water level of the Una and Sunja rivers. Emergency flood defences were erected in Hrvatska Kostajnica. The rising Kupa river threatened to flood areas of Karlovac County. Roads were flooded in Blatnica, Donja Kupcina and Gradec Pokupski. Several houses were damaged in Zadar County.
