Hurricane Kay, Mexico, September 2022Hurricane Kay made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane in the municipality of Mulegé, Baja California Sur, Mexico, on 08 September 2022. Baja California Sur Civil Protection reported flooding in Mulegé and Loreto municipalities. As of 09 September there were no reports of injuries or evacuations. Flooding was also reported in Tecate municipality in Baja California, where homes were damaged and 14 people evacuated. Kay later weakened to a tropical storm and moved north, bringing heavy rain to parts of southern California, USA. Around 50 drivers and passengers were rescued from stranded vehicles after a mudslide near Lake Hughes on 11 September. No injuries were reported. Three people were rescued from floodwaters in San Bernardino, California, on 11 September. Evacuations were ordered on 12 September for several communities in the Yucaipa area near San Bernardino because of potential mud and debris flows and flash flooding.Tue 13 Sep 2022FloodList provided by Copernicus GLOFAS
