  • A new tropical cyclone named LIDIA formed over the eastern North Pacific Ocean on 3 October and started moving toward central-western Mexico as a tropical storm, streghtening. On 9 October at 6.00 UTC, its centre was located over the Ocean approximately 840 km south-west of the eastern coast of Nayarit State, with maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h (tropical storm).
  • LIDIA is forecast to make landfall in the area between Tepic City (Nayarit State) and Puerto Vallarta City (northern Jalisco State) on 11 October very early in the morning (UTC), with maximum sustained winds up to 155-160 km/h (Cat. 2 Hurricane).
  • On 10-12 October, very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are forecast over Nayarit, Sinaloa, Jalisco and Baja California Sur States. NOAA has issued an hurricane watch over Nayarit and northern Jalisco States.

  • Tropical cyclone LIDIA made landfall just south of coastal City of Puerto Vallarta (western Jalisco State, bordering with southern Nayarit State) on 11 October very early in the morning (UTC), with maximum sustained winds up to 200 km/h (Cat. 3 Hurricane). On 11 October at 6.00 UTC, its centre was located inland approximately 30 km south of the Temastian Town (northern Jalisco State), with maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h (tropical storm).
  • Media report, as of 11 October, one fatality across the Puerto Vallarta City area.
  • On 11 October, LIDIA is forecast to continue moving northeastward inland over northern Jalisco and southern Zacatecas States, further weakening.
  • Over the next 24 hours, very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are forecast over Nayarit, Sinaloa, Jalisco and Baja California Sur States. A tropical storm warning issued by NOAA is still in force over the coastal area of the aforementioned States.

  • After the landfall just south of coastal City of Puerto Vallarta in western Jalisco State, bordering with southern Nayarit State, on 11 October as Cat. 3 Hurricane, LIDIA downgraded as a tropical storm and continued northeastward over northern Jalisco and southern Zacatecas States, further weakening and dissipating in the afternoon (UTC) on 11 October.
  • Media report, as of 12 October, two fatalities, of which one across Jalisco State and one more in Nayarit State, two injured people, a number of blocked roads and some closed schools across the affected area.
  • Over the next 48 hours, very heavy rainfall is still forecast over central and western Mexico. NOAA has discontinued all warnings for the Pacific coast of the country.

  • After passing over the coastal City of Puerto Vallarta, western Jalisco State, bordering with southern Nayarit State on 11 October as Cat. 3 Hurricane, the remnants of LIDIA caused heavy rainfall across western and central Mexico on 11-12 October.
  • Media report, as of 13 October, five fatalities across Jalisco State and Nayarit State. A number of landslides were also reported in the area of Puerto Vallarta.
  • Over the next 24 hours, more rainfall is still forecast over the coastal area of western Mexico.
