  • Several wildfires are burning across the western USA, resulting in fatalities and damage.
    In Arizona, there are 11 active wildfires that have burnt an area of about 70,775 ha, as of 12 July. The National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) reports that two people died during fire fighting operations.
  • In the border between northern California and south-western Oregon, the Bootleg Fire has burnt about 61,031 ha, destroyed at least 50 buildings and electric power grids. Up to 1,000 residents have been evacuated, as reported by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). 
  • According to the Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS), the fire danger forecast is mostly extreme on 13-14 July over most of western USA, including the already affected States.
