  • PODUL is forecast to make landfall over northern Aurora Province on 27 August, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h.
  • Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast over central and northern Luzon.

On 28 August at 0:00 UTC, its centre was located over the South China sea, west of Luzon, approximately 1,000 km east of Hainan Island (China), with a maximum sustained winds of 64 km/h.
  • The Government of the Philippines reports two fatalities and two injured persons in Pasuquin and Laoag City (Ilocos Norte, northern Philippines).
  • PODUL is forecast to keep moving over the South China sea, approaching southern Hainan on 29 August in the afternoon, with a maximum sustained winds of 83 km/h.

  • Tropical Cyclone PODUL's (YANGLIU in China) centre was approximately 250 km east-southeast of Sanya City (southern Hainan) and 540 km east of Dong Hoi (central Vietnam) on 29 August at 0.00 UTC with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h.
  • DG ECHO reports 2 fatalities, 2 injured, 3,180 displaced in 53 evacuation centres and more than 61,500 affcted across central-northern Luzon (Philippines), particularly in the Aurora Province.
  • PODUL is forecast to pass 70-80 km south of Hainan on 29 August, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h, before making landfall over Quang Bình Province (Vietnam) early on 30 August, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h.
  • Moderate to locally heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are forecast over central-northern Luzon. On 30 August at 3.00 UTC, its centre was in mainland Thailand, approximately 175 km south-east of Vientiane (Laos), with maximum sustained winds of 60 km/h (tropical depression).
  • In China, a tornado caused 8 fatalities, damaged 115 houses, affecting more than 500 people in Danzhou (Hainan Province).
  • Over the next 24 hours, PODUL is forecast to continue inland, weakening before eventually dissipating.
  • Heavy to locally very heavy rain is forecast over central Vietnam, southern Laos and south-eastern Thailand over 30 August - 1 September.
