  • Tropical Cyclone JOANINHA, continued east-southeast over the Indian Ocean. On 28 March at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located approximately 400 km south-east of Rodrigues Island (Mauritius), with maximum sustained winds up to 213 km/h.
  • As of 28 March, four people are reported injured and 83 are still displaced in centres across the island. More than 100 houses were damaged by strong winds, 29 severely, and only 8% of the electricity grid has been restored.
  • Tropical Cyclone JOANINHA is forecast to continue moving south-east in the Indian Ocean, weakening.
  • Strong winds and high waves will continue to affect the coastal areas of Rodrigues until 28 March.

  • After passing east of Rodrigues Island, Tropical Cyclone JOANINHA-19  continued south-east over the Indian Ocean. On 27 March its centre was located approximately 270 km south-east of Rodrigues Island, with maximum sustained winds up to 213 km/h.
  • Media report that 408 people have been registered in shelters on Rodrigues Island, while strong winds have cut electricity throughout the island and roads are impassable.
  • Over the next 24 hours, JOANINHA-19 is forecast to continue south-east, weakening.
  • Moderate rainfall and strong winds are forecast for Rodrigues Island on 27-28 March.

  • Tropical Cyclone JOANINHA continued moving south-east over the Indian Ocean towards Rodrigues Island (Mauritius), strengthening. On 26 March at 00:00 UTC, its centre was located approximately 85 km north-northeast of Rodrigues Island, with maximum sustained winds of 204 km/h. According to media, as of 26 March at 8.00, Rodrigues airport was closed. 
  • Over the next 24 hours, TC JOANINHA is forecast to continue moving south-east over the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Rodrigues and strengthening, with predicted maximum sustained winds up to 220 km/h. 
  • Heavy rain, strong winds and storm surges are forecast over Rodrigues Island on 26-27 March. 
  • The Mauritius Meteorological Services has issued, as of 26 March, a cyclone warning Class IV for Rodrigues.

  • It is forecast to continue south-west strengthening and may pass near Rodrigues Island on 26 March, with maximum sustained winds up to 200 km/h.

  • A new Tropical Cyclone named TWENTYTWO formed over the Indian Ocean on 22 March and started moving southward offshore. On 22 March at 00:00 UTC, its centre was located approximately 575 km north-northwest of Rodrigues Island, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h (Tropical Storm).
  • Over the next 24 hours, it is forecast to continue moving southward over the Ocean, strengthening. TWENTYTWO could pass near Rodrigues Island on 25 March with maximum sustained winds of 185-190 km/h.
  • Heavy rain and strong wind could affect the area on 23-26 March.
