  • Several wildfires have been occurring across the Oblasts of Kurgan and Tyumen in the southern Ural Mountains area and western Siberia (southern Russia), resulting in casualties and damage.
  • According to media reports, at least 21 people have died, and more than 5,000 buildings have been burned.
  • A state of emergency was introduced in the Kurgan Oblast.
  • Over the next 24 hours, according to the JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS) the fire danger forecast is expected to be from high to extreme across the affected areas.
