  • Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano, located in East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province is increasing its activity. On 12 October, two major explosions were reported and the ash column reached 1 km above the summit of the crater. The activity is still ongoing.
  • Following this volcanic events, the ash fall reached the two sub-districts in East Flores regency and one sub-district in Sikka regency.
  • The alert level of the volcano is at level 3 (standby), all activities within a radius of 3 km from the crater and sectorally 4 km in the north-northeast direction and 5 km in the northeast sector are forbidden.

  • Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano, located in East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province erupted on 3 November at 15.57 (UTC). Volcanic ash was reported, and the column reached 2,000 m above the summit of the crater. The activity is still ongoing.
  • According to the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet), as of 4 November, ten people died, and 10,295 have been affected. The National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) reports that Wulanggitang district is the most affected with a total of 9,479 affected people across six villages: Pululera, Nawokote, Hokeng Jaya, Klatanlo, Boru and Boru Kedang. In addition, a shelter has been set up, and several houses have been burned. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
  • The alert level of the volcano raised from level 3 to level 4, all activities within a radius of 7 km from the crater are forbidden.

  • The activity of Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano, East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province is still ongoing following minor volcanic explosions and volcanic earthquakes.
  • According to the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) and the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), the death toll stands at ten, while 66 people have been injured. Additionally, 2,472 people have been displaced and evacuated in three evacuation centres in the Konga, Lewolaga, and Tietehena villages. The East Flores Regency BPBD is still collecting data on the number of residents who have been evacuated.
  • The alert level of the volcano stands at level 4 and all the activities within a radius of 7 km from the crater are forbidden. 
  • For the next 24 hours, light rain could hit most of East Flores Regency.

  • The Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano, in East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province, erupted eight times on 7 November, with volcanic ashes that reached 8,000 m above the summit of the crater.
  • As of 7 November, according to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), around 2,000 people have been displaced from East Flores Regency to Sikka Regency after the last eruptions. Media reports, as of the same date, that more than 8,000 people are sheltered in evacuation centres.
  • The alert level of the volcano still stands at level 4 and all the activities within a radius of 7 km from the crater are forbidden.

  • The volcanic activity of the Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano, in East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province, continues. Dozens of eruptions have been recorded since 3 November, on 11 November, the volcanic ash column reached 2,500 m above the summit of the crater, and ashfall has been reported in the surrounding area.
  • As of 11 November, according to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) and to media reports, at least 11,445 people have been evacuated from East Flores Regency, including 5,838 people in Titehena District in East Flores Regency, and 3,564 people in Sikka Regency, three evacuation centres have been set up in Wulanggitang and Larantuka Districts in East Flores Regency, and in Maumere City in Sikka Regency. In addition, four airports have been closed.
  • The alert level of the volcano still stands at level 4, authorities extended the exclusion zone for all the activities to 9 km-radius.

  • New eruptions have been recorded as well as volcanic earthquakes in the Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano, East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province. On 14 November the volcanic ash reached up to 3,000 m above the crater.
  • According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) as of 13 November, 13,116 people have been sheltered across eight evacuation centres, most of them in the Titehena district which is hosting almost 7,000 people. In addition, in the past few days some flights in Blai islands have been cancelled due to the volcanic activity.
  • National authorities continue to provide emergency assistance for those affected. 
  • The alert level of the volcano still stands at level 4.

Pusat Vulkanologi dan Mitigasi Bencana Geologi (PVMBG) reported that eruptive activity at Lewotobi?s Laki-laki volcano continued during 23-29 October from a vent on the upper NW flank. Daily gray ash plumes that were sometimes dense rose 500-1,000 m above the summit and drifted SW, W, and NW. The Alert Level remained at 3 (the second highest level on a scale of 1-4) and the public was warned to stay outside of the exclusion zone, defined as a 3 km radius around both Laki-laki and Perempuan craters, 4 km to the NNW and SSE of Laki-laki.
