  • A number of huge wildfires have been affecting central Canada, in particular the Manitoba province, since 12 May, causing casualties and widespread damage. According to the JRC Global Wildfires Information System (GWIS), as of 16 May, the wildfires have burnt so far an area of approximately 50,000 ha in the area Lac du Boof nnet town, far south-eastern Manitoba province, around 75 km north-east of the Winnipeg city.
  • Media report, as of 16 May, two fatalities and approximately 1,000 evacuated people across the Lac du Bonnet town and neighbouring areas.
  • Over the next 24 hours, according to the JRC Global Wildfires Information System (GWIS), the fire danger forecast is expected from low to moderate across most of the Manitoba province.
