- A new tropical cyclone, KAJIKI ("Isang" in the Philippines), formed on 22 August and started moving west toward Hainan island (southern China) and central-northern Viet Nam, strengthening. On 25 August after 0.00 UTC, its centre was located over the Gulf of Tonkin, close to the coast of the Nghê An province (northern Viet Nam), with maximum sustained winds of 167 km/h (typhoon).
- On Luzon island (northern Philippines), KAJIKI caused heavy rainfall, resulting in one fatality and over 25,000 evacuated people (of whom a number are in six evacuation centres). In Viet Nam, around 586,000 people were reportedly evacuated as a preventative measure.
- On the forecast track, KAJIKI is expected to make landfall in the area of the city of Vinh (Nghê An province) on 25 August late in the morning (UTC), with maximum sustained winds up to 165 km/h.
- Over the next 48 hours, very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surges are forecast over central and northern Viet Nam and over Hainan island (southern China).

- Tropical cyclone KAJIKI ("Isang" in the Philippines) continued moving westward over the Gulf of Tonkin, slightly weakening, and made landfall in the area of the city of Vinh (Nghe An province) on 25 August late in the morning (UTC), with maximum sustained winds up to 165 km/h. On 26 August at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located inland over central-northern Laos, near the Peung city area, with maximum sustained winds of 93 km/h (tropical storm).
- Its passage caused very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surges, triggering floods and landslides that have resulted in casualties and damage. In northern and central Viet Nam, ADINet, IFRC and the media report three fatalities, 13 injured people, nearly 600,000 evacuated people, more than 1.62 million affected people and over 6,800 damaged houses. In southern China, media reports over 100,000 affected people across Hainan island.
- On the forecast track, KAJIKI is expected to further weaken into a tropical depression and dissipate over northern Laos on 26 August in the evening.
- Over the next 72 hours, very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surges are forecast over most of Viet Nam, most of Laos and the whole Hainan island (southern China).

- The passage of the tropical cyclone KAJIKI over Viet Nam, Laos and Thailand over 25-26 August caused very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surges (on coastal areas), triggering floods and landslides that have resulted in casualties and damage. Viet Nam and Thailand were the worst affected.
- In northern and central Viet Nam, the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 27 August, three fatalities, five still missing persons, 47 injured people, 17 destroyed houses, more than 30,800 damaged houses and a total of nearly 139,100 affected people.
- In northern Thailand, the same source reports one fatality, one still missing person and more than 650 affected people.
- Over the next 48 hours, very heavy rainfall is still forecast over most of Viet Nam, most of Laos and northern and central Thailand.

- The humanitarian impact continues to increase following the passage of Tropical Cyclone KAJIKI across Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar. In Vietnam, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reports seven fatalities, one missing person, and 12 injured. In addition, at least 1.5 million people have been affected. In Thailand, five people have died, seven are missing, and 15 have been injured, while more than 6 300 people have been affected by floods and landslides. In Myanmar, according to the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet), 430 people have been affected and three bridges damaged.
- Over the next 48 hours, moderate to locally heavy rainfall is forecast across central and northern Vietnam, most of Laos, northern Thailand, and northern Myanmar.
