New Zealand - Severe weather and floods
  • On 13–14 February, heavy rain affected the North Island, causing floods and other severe-weather incidents that resulted in casualties and damage. Media reports say a person died in a weather-related incident in the town of Otorohanga, and at least 80 people have been evacuated from the North Island.
  • States of local emergency have been declared for the Manawatu-Whanganui region and for the Otorohanga and Waipa districts in Waikato because of the severe weather.
  • For the next 24 hours, scattered showers are forecast across the western and eastern parts of the North Island and across most of the South Island.
