  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting south-eastern Peru, in particular, the Puno region, since 17 February, causing floods and rivers overflow that have resulted in affected populations and damage.
  • The National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI) reports, as of 20 February, around 50 affected people and approximately 50 damaged houses across the Tiquillaca district, Puno region.
  • Over the next 72 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is forecast over most of the country.

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting Peru since January, causing landslides and flooding that have resulted in casualties, affected populations and damage.
  • According to UNICEF, as of 26 February, at least seven people died and 57,225 people have been affected, including 17,167 children. In addition, 27,486 houses, 200 bridges, 79 classrooms and 14 health centres have been damaged or destroyed by landslides or flooding across 20 regions in Peru, with Huancavelica as the worst affected.
  • A state of emergency has been declared on 20 February
  • Over the next 72 hours, more rainfall is forecast over Peru. Particularly the central Andes will experience heavy rainfall.

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting southern Peru, in particular the Madre de Dios and the Apurímac departments since 10 March, causing floods, flash floods and triggering landslides that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • The National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI) and media report, as of 14 March, one fatality and six still missing persons across the Chalhuanca district, Apurimac department. In addition, media also report 85 evacuated people, nearly 100 damaged buildings, and a total of approximately 270 affected people across the Madre de Dios department, where the most affected cities and towns are Puerto Maldonado, Laberinto, and Las Piedras.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is forecast over most of the country.
