  • Heavy rainfall continues to affect western Venezuela (In particular the Mérida State) since 27 November, causing floods and rivers overflow (in particular the San Roque River) that have resulted in widespread damage. The worst affected is the Zea Municipality in western Mérida State.
  • Media report, as of 29 November, more than 50 isolated families and a total of 255 affected families across the aforementioned Municipality. In addition, media also report 85 collapsed, 1,360 damaged houses and  48 severely damaged bridges across 12 Municipalities (including Zea) throughout western Mérida State.
  • Over the next 24 hours, more heavy rainfall is forecast over the whole Mérida State.
Mérida State, Venezuela, November 2022Heavy rainfall from around 08 November 2022 caused flooding and landslides in Mérida State, Venezuela. State governor Jehyson Guzmán reported flooding and landslides in 11 municipalities and declared an orange alert on 13 November 2022. Three people were reported missing, later found dead after floods in El Pinar, Caracciolo Parra Olmedo municipality where the Chimomo river broke its banks. 315 families evacuated their homes in the municipality. In Obispo Ramos de Lora municipality 89 homes were damaged and 209 families affected. The state government reported a total of 10 overflowing rivers and 11 landslides in the municipality.
