  • An earthquake of 5.1 M (4.9 as registered by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, INGV) at a depth of 8 km occurred in Tuscany Region (central Italy) on 18 September at 3.10 UTC (5.10 local time). The epicentre was located 3 km south-west of Marradi village (Metropolitan City of Florence).
  • A foreshock of 3.4 M and several aftershocks up to 3.0 M have been recorded by the INGV in the area.
  • Media and local authority report, as of 18 September, 30 evacuated people in Marradi village, light damage to some buildings and school closures in the localities close to the epicentre. According to the Civil Protection of the Metropolitan City of Florence, schools  will be closed on 19 September in the villages of Palazzuolo sul Senio and Marradi.
  • Numerous stability checks are currently being carried out by firefighters.
