  • An earthquake of 6.3 M at a depth of 41 km  occurred in the Luzon Strait (between northern Philippines and southern Taiwan) on 12 September at 11.03 UTC (19.03 local time). The epicentre was located offshore close to the coast, approximately 18 km west of Calayan Island (southern Babuyan Islands) and 70 km north of the Claveria City (Cagayan Valley Region, far northern Phiippines).
  • USGS PAGER estimates that up to 14,000 people were exposed to strong shaking and up to 21,000 to moderate shaking.
  • According to media, the earthquake has been felt across the Babuyan Islands, the southern Batanes Islands and the far northern Luzon. As of 13 September, there are no reports of casualties and damage.

  • After the earthquake of 6.3 M at a depth of 41 km occurred offshore in the Luzon Strait, close to the Calayan Island, southern Babuyan Islands, far northern Philippines, on 12 September at 11.03 UTC, casualties and damage were reported across the northern Cagayan Valley Region and the northern Ilocos Region.
  • The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 14 September, five injured people, three damaged houses, 42 damaged schools and a total of around 175 affected people across the aforementioned regions, where the most affected area is the Cagayan Province in the northernmost Province of the Cagayan Valley Region.
