  • Monsoon rainfall has been affecting most of Pakistan since 26 June, causing floods, landslides, and severe weather-related incidents that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • According to the National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan, as of 9 July, a total of 87 people have died, and 149 others have been injured across most provinces. The worst-affected regions are Punjab (29 fatalities) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP, 30 fatalities). 242 houses are fully and partially damaged mainly in KP and Punjab province.
  • The current heatwave in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) region, as the temperature reached 48.5C (Bunji), intensified the glacier melting resulting in Glacier Lake Outburst Flood and soil erosion that have disconnected roads, damaged homes, agriculture and disrupted power and water supplies in various areas including in Nagar Khas.
  • Over the next 48 hours, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in central and southern parts of Pakistan, with localised areas likely to experience intense downpours.

  • The number of casualties is increasing due to the monsoon rainfalls that have been affecting several provinces of Pakistan, causing floods, flash floods, a number of severe weather-related incidents, mainly due to the strong wind, and triggering landslides.
  • Over the period from 26 June to 15 July, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reported 116 fatalities, 212 injured people, nearly 3,250 displaced people, and a total of approximately 5,000 affected people across the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sindh, and Balochistan. In addition, 485 fully damaged houses were reported across the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Balochistan.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more heavy downpours are expected across the country with possible flash floods and landslides in high-risk zones. Pakistan Met department (PMD) has issued a glacier lake outburst flood (GLOF) for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) region.

  • There have been significant floods in Pakistan since 26 June. In the last 24 hours, 63 casualties and 290 injuries were reported across Punjab. A state of emergency has been declared in several districts.
  • Between 26 June and 16 July, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reports 124 fatalities and 264 injured people countrywide, of which 103 deaths and 393 injuries in Punjab, in addition to 522 damaged houses and nine damaged bridges.
  • District Chakwal recorded 400 mm of rain overnight due to cloudburst, causing flash floods across the city. District Rawalpindi issued an evacuation warning as the city received 200 mm rains leading to flash floods in Gawalmandi, Kattarian and other areas in Lai Nullah on 17 July.
  • On 16 July, the Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) forecasted exceptional high flood ranging between 350 000-450 000 Cusecs in Jhelum River at Mangla. The associated Nullahs of River Jhelum may attain high level.
  • Over the next 72 hours, more heavy rainfall is forecast over parts of central and northern Pakistan.
