  • In the past few days, heavy rainfall has been affecting the Sumatra and Java islands particularly, causing floods, triggering landslides, and resulting in casualties and damage.
  • According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), two people died and another was injured in Talagasari Village, Cianjur regency, West Java province on 3 December due to a landslide.
  • Another landslide occurred in Lebak regency, Banten province and resulted in one death and one injured person. In the same province, widespread floods and landslides resulted in 1,253 affected families. Moreover, a total of 1,717 houses were affected by floods in Cilacap Regency, Central Java province. Furthermore, more than 4,000 people have been impacted by floods in Binjai, North Sumatra province.
  • For the next 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast over Java island while moderate to locally heavy rain is expected across north-western Sumatra.

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting central and western Indonesia, in particular the Java island, and the Sumatra island since 13 December, triggering a landslide and causing floods and flash floods that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • The Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) reports as 19 December, one fatality, one injured, two displaced people, three damaged houses, and a total of 14 affected people in the Temanggung regency (Central Java province) due to a landslide occurred on 17 December. In addition, BNPB also reports 93 evacuated families, and more than 4,350 affected families across the Indramayu regency (West Java province), due to floods. Moreover, BNPB reports ten injured people, 250 evacuated families, and nearly 500 affected families in the South Tapanuli regency (North Sumatra province) due to flash floods.
  • Over the next 96 hours, more heavy rainfall is still forecast over most of the already affected Java island, and Sumatra island.

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting eastern and central Indonesia since 17 December, triggering landslides and causing floods that have resulted in population displacement and damage.
  • The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as 20 December, nearly 110 evacuated people in four evacuation centres, and more than 30 damaged houses across the Makassar regency , South Sulawesi province. In addition, ADINet also reports more than 6,800 affected people, and over 1,700 damaged houses in the Dompu regency, West Nusa Tenggara province. Moreover, approximately 950 affected people, and over 300 damaged houses were reported in the Jayapura regency, Papua province.
  • Over the next 96 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is still forecast over most of eastern and central Indonesia.
