  • Heavy rainfall continues to affect most of Kenya, causing rivers overflow, particularly the Tana and the Mara rivers, floods, flash floods and triggering landslides and mudslides that have resulted in more casualties and severe damage.
  • Media report, as of 14 May, 277 fatalities, 75 people still missing, 188 injured, more than 281,800 displaced and a total of approximately 380,500 affected people across 37 counties (out of a total of 47 in the country).
  • Over the next 72 hours, more heavy rainfall is still forecast over south-western Kenya.

  • The heavy rainfall affecting Kenya in recent days triggered a landslide on 14 May that has resulted in casualties and severe damage.
  • As of 16 May, media reports at least five missing and a destroyed road due to the landslide that occured in Kimende Escarpment in Kiambu county in central Kenya.
  • Since late March, Kenya has been hit by heavy rainfall and flooding since late March, bringing the death toll to 289 and the displaced people to nearly 300,000.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall is still forecasted over western Kenya.
