  • On 14-15 March heavy rainfall affected the Provinces of Adiyaman and Sanliurfa (southern Türkiye) causing floods and resulting in casualties and damage.
  • According to media, 14 people have died, of which 12 in Sanliurfa (hit by 111 mm of rain in 24 hours) and two others in Adiyaman (136 mm of rain in 24 hours). In addition, at least five people are still missing (three in Adiyaman and two in Sanliurfa) as reported by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and media.
  • Search and rescue operations conducted by national authorities are ongoing over the area.
  • The two Provinces have been hit by the seismic activity started on 6 March that resulted in more than 48,448 fatalities and 3,320,000 people evacuated or having left the area by their own means to other provinces, as well as 800,000 people internally displaced to villages in their respective provinces.
  • On 16-17 March, moderate rain is forecast across Adiyaman and Sanliurfa Provinces.
Southern Türkiye, Mid-March 2023Flooding struck Adiyaman and Sanliurfa provinces in southern Türkiye on 15 March 2023 following heavy rain. One fatality was reported and 4 people were missing in Tut District of Adiyaman. A hospital was severely damaged and patients were evacuated in Sanliurfa city. Other areas of the city were also evacuated. Many of those affected by flooding are living in tents in numerous temporary accommodation centres after February's earthquakes.
