Event. A magnitude-5.4 offshore earthquake occurred near Tonga at 13:36 July 18. The epicenter was about 215 km (134 miles) north of Nuku'alofa. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 211 km (131 miles), and light shaking likely occurred in across Tongatapu.

Event. A magnitude-5.4 earthquake occurred in the Pacific Ocean northeast of Vava'u Island, Tonga at 23:02 July 16. The epicenter was about 139 km (86 miles) northeast of Neiafu, Tonga. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout Vava'u Island.
