Typhoon Banyan is moving north-northwestward at 12 mph. A north track is expected today with increasing forward speed. Banyan should then recurve to the northeast and accelerate into the open North Pacific Wednesday and Thursday. Typhoon Banyan has strengthened slightly, with maximum sustained winds at 100 mph. Banyan is forecast to intensify slowly through tonight, then slowly weaken Wednesday and Thursday. Typhoon force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center, and tropical storm force winds extend out up to 90 miles.
