SUMMARY OF 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- Location...24.4N 162.9E About 425 miles north-northwest of Wake Island About 1130 miles north-northwest of Kwajalein About 1315 miles north-northwest of Majuro About 1405 miles northeast of Guam Maximum sustained winds...90 mph Present movement...north-northwest...345 degrees at 8 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...the center of Typhoon Banyan was located near Latitude 24.4 North and Longitude 162.9 East. Typhoon Banyan is now moving north-northwestward at 8 mph. A north to north-northwest track is expected through today with increasing forward speed. Banyan should then recurve to the northeast and accelerate into the open North Pacific Wednesday and Thursday. Typhoon Banyan remained unchanged, with maximum sustained winds at 90 mph. Banyan is forecast to re-intensify slightly later tonight, then slowly weaken Wednesday and Thursday. Typhoon force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center, and tropical storm force winds extend out up to 90 miles.
