Typhoon Banyan is picking up speed, and is now moving northward at 10 mph. A north to north-northwest track is expected through Tuesday with slowly increasing forward speed. Banyan should then recurve to the northeast and accelerate into the open North Pacific Wednesday and Thursday. Typhoon Banyan has weakened, with maximum sustained winds down to 90 mph. Banyan is forecast to re-intensify tonight and Tuesday, then slowly weaken Wednesday and Thursday. Typhoon force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center, and tropical storm force winds extend out up to 70 miles.
