SUMMARY OF 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- Location...20.8N 164.3E About 180 miles northwest of Wake Island About 865 miles north-northwest of Kwajalein About 1050 miles north-northwest of Majuro About 1385 miles east-northeast of Guam Maximum sustained winds...90 mph Present movement...northwest...330 degrees at 7 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 700 AM ChST...2100 UTC...the center of Typhoon Banyan was located near latitude 20.8 north and longitude 164.3 east, moving toward the northwest at 7 mph. This general motion is expected to continue through Tuesday morning, before turning northeastward with an increase in forward speed on Tuesday night. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 90 mph. Gradual strengthening is anticipated through Monday evening, then a weakening trend starting Tuesday. Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 25 miles and tropical storm force winds up to 105 miles.
