At 700 PM ChST...0900 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Banyan

was located near Latitude 19.7 North and Longitude 164.9 East.

Tropical Storm Banyan is moving toward the northwest at 9 mph.

It is expected to make a slight turn toward the north-

northwest with little change in forward speed over the next

24 hours.



Maximum sustained winds have increased to 65 mph. Tropical Storm

Banyan is forecast to intensify through Sunday possibly becoming

a typhoon on Sunday.



Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 100 miles from

the center.
