DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

----------------------

At 700 AM ChST...2100 UTC...the eye of Super Typhoon Noru was

located near latitude 22.9 degrees north and longitude 140.6 degrees

east, moving slowly west at 6 mph. Nora is expected to turn

northwest later today, and then gradually northward Tuesday.



Maximum sustained winds have increased to 160 mph. Noru is forecast

to maintain near this strength through tonight, then begin a slow

weakening trend on Tuesday.
