DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 100 AM ChST...1500 UTC...the eye of Typhoon Noru was located

near latitude 22.9 degrees north and longitude 141.3 degrees east,

moving slowly south-southwest at 5 mph. Nora is expected to turn

northwest this morning, and continue on this course tonight and

Tuesday before turning northward Tuesday night.



Maximum sustained winds have increased quickly to 110 mph. Noru is

forecast to continue rapid intensification today, reaching a peak

intensity near 140 mph tonight, then begin a slow weakening by

Tuesday afternoon or evening.
