DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 PM HST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Fernanda was located near latitude 18.4 North, longitude 142.5 West. Fernanda is moving toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h) and a general motion toward the west-northwest is expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Some weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Fernanda is expected to become a tropical depression Friday or Friday night. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
