Bolivia - Severe weather (ECHO 20 Mar 2023)

Heavy rainfall, strong winds, hailstorms and thunderstorms have been affecting most of the country (particularly central and southern departments) since the beginning of the rainy season (early January) causing floods and a number of severe weather-related incidents (in particular due to hailstorms) that have resulted in casualties and damage.
The National Civil Defence and WHO PAHO report, as of 16 March, five fatalities, of which three across the Chuquisaca Department and two more in La Paz Department. In addition, the Civil Defence reports more than 33,700 affected families, 17 destroyed houses and 78 damaged houses in 41 municipalites across six departments.
Over the next 24 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is forecast over most of the country.
