  • Mount Merapi, located between Central Java and Yogyakarta provinces erupted with an ash column of 3,000 metres on 14 October.
  • According to the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), the volcanic ash moved south-west, reaching the districts of Dukun, Salam and Srumbung (Magelang Regency, central Java Province).
  • The authorities provided masks for those affected by the ash fall and have issued a hazard range radius of 3 km from the centre of the volcano.
  • The national volcanology agency issued an orange volcano observatory notice for aviation, indicating the possibility of a further eruption.

  • Mount Merapi, located between Central Java and Yogyakarta provinces erupted an ash column of 2,000 metres on 13 February, sending volcanic ash north-west.
  • According to the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), an Alert Level 2 is in place and residents and tourists are recommended to remain outside a 3 km radius from the centre of the volcano. 
  • An orange aviation advisory is also in effect over the area.

  • On 21 June, Mount Merapi, located between Central Java Province and the Special Region of Yogyakarta erupted, the ash column raised 6,000 metres and moved westward. 
  • The Center for Investigation and Development of Geological Disaster Technology (BPPTKG), reports that the ashfall covered the Districts of Magelang (Central Java Province) and Kulonprogo (Special Region of Yogyakarta). Some villages, especially Kemiren, Srumbung and Banyuadem experienced heavy amount of ashfall.
  • According to the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), the alert level stands at 2, residents and tourists are recommended not to access in a 3 km redius from the centre of the volcano.
