  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting northern Myanmar, in particular the northernmost state Kachin State, since late June, causing floods and river overflows, particularly the Ayeyarwady river, that have resulted in population displacement and damage.
  • The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 4 July, there are approximately 26,400 displaced people, some of whom have been evacuated to 50 evacuation centres across Myitkyina, Waingmaw, and Bhamo districts, central-southern Kachin state.
  • Over the next 72 hours, very heavy rainfall is still forecasted over the whole of Kachin State.
