  • Heavy rainfall and strong winds have been affecting western Dominican Republic (in particular the Provinces of Baoruco, San Juan, Independencia and Azua) since 4 June, triggering landslides and causing floods, rivers overflow and a number of strong wind-related incidents that have resulted in damage.
  • Media reports, as of 8 June, one fatality and six damaged houses in the Independencia Province. In addition, nearly 90 affected people and some damaged buildings across the Tamayo City (Baoruco Province) were reported.
  • Over the next 48 hours, light rainfall is forecast over southern Dominican Republic.
Dominican Republic, Early June 2023Heavy rains from 03 to 05 June caused flooding and damages to homes and crops in areas of the Dominican Republic. Local media reported one person died after being swept away by floodwaters of the Blanco River in the province of Independencia.
